PFD Laser Tattoo Removal Patch

The PFD patch is the newest technology on the market that allows us to remove your tattoos up to four times faster, in comparison to the previous method. People always hear stories about the pain and discomfort that accompanies a tattoo removal session, and most of them decide against it, due to this particular reason. Here at Bad Habits Tattoos, we strive to make our clients feel as comfortable as possible, and we ought to make sure everything goes smoothly by using the latest technology with the patch.

Perfluorodecalin (PFD) is widely used in numerous cosmetic applications, thanks to its ability to dissolve gases and provide oxygen for the skin. In other words, PFD is a silicone gel patch that successfully reduces the consequences of laser frost, thus allowing for multiple laser passes during a single session. Previous methods had an adverse effect on your skin, and therefore, multiple passes weren’t recommended. The most significant benefit of PFD, and also its primary purpose, is to speed up the process of tattoo removal and decrease the overall number of treatments needed for the complete treatment.

A recent study conducted in Tennessee showed that 11 out of 17 tattoos treated through this patch were more rapidly cleared, in comparison to the control sample. Furthermore, this patch allowed for three to four passes during a single session that consequently led to a noticeable speedup of the whole treatment. On top of that, no adverse effects were experienced.
The important thing you should keep in mind is that not everyone qualifies for this treatment. Call us to learn more about the terms and conditions related to qualifying for the procedure itself.

Laser tattoo removal uses advanced technology to safely penetrate through the skin and eliminate unwanted ink. When a tattoo is applied, a needle embeds large ink particles into the deepest layer of skin, the dermis. Your immune system is immediately alerted by the puncture wound and sends bacteria eating cells to heal the wound and consume the foreign ink material. However, the ink particles are too large to be absorbed by the tiny immune cells, allowing the ink to stay trapped in your skin. Over time, your immune system continuously eats away at the ink, causing your tattoo to fade and lose color gradually.

Laser tattoo removal expedites the fading process by acting as an assistant to your immune system. During a tattoo removal session, the laser produces pulses of light energy onto the unwanted tattoo. Each pulse of light energy safely penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the large ink particles. The absorption of light energy causes the ink particles to heat up and shatter into smaller fragments. Over the weeks following each treatment, your immune system cleans up the smaller ink fragments, lightening the appearance of your tattoo.

Multiple treatments are needed to shatter the different layers of ink in your skin. Each session with the laser continuously breaks down the ink until none remains.

Bad Habits Tattoos provides fast and effective results for a wide range of tattoo colors. For superior fading results, call our Fort Lauderdale studio to schedule a free consultation.

Bad Habits Tattoos is dedicated to delivering the best removal results throughout Fort Lauderdale. We’ve invested in the Astanza Duality to ensure your skin receives the best care and removal outcomes.

The Astanza Duality is trusted by leading tattoo removal providers throughout the nation. This Q-switched Nd:YAG laser combines an ultra-short pulse duration at 6000 picoseconds and high pulse energy to create strong peak power for optimal ink shattering. Peak power is what allows a laser to break up the large ink particles in your skin, making the fading process easier for your immune system.

The Duality also produces two of the most trusted wavelengths for laser tattoo removal, 1064 nm, and 532 nm. Both of these wavelengths target a specific group of ink colors and can completely remove ink in virtually all tattoos. These wavelengths are safe to use on all skin types and target tattoo ink only, leaving the surrounding skin tissue unharmed.

This cutting-edge laser features a homogenized flat top profile beam for safe energy application, minimized overlap of laser pulses, and faster treatment times. Unlike other lasers, the Duality’s square beam avoids the risk of overtreatment, effectively decreasing the risk of pigmentation changes for patients with darker skin types.

The Astanza Duality at Bad Habits Tattoos eliminates more ink with each laser session, guaranteeing fast results in the fewest amount of treatments needed. To learn more about this technology, schedule a free consultation at our Fort Lauderdale studio today!

Laser tattoo removal isn’t just used for removing tattoos, it can help lighten a tattoo in preparation for a cover-up tattoo. Cover-ups are a great way to alter an existing tattoo or conceal an unwanted tattoo. However, a lot of cover-ups have creative limitations due to the colors and size of the existing tattoo it’s going over. Without tattoo removal, cover-ups usually require double the amount of ink to completely conceal a tattoo

Laser tattoo removal is beneficial for cover-ups in many ways:
It creates a lighter, cleaner canvas for your tattoo artist to work on
It generates better results and guarantees you won’t see your old tattoo under the new one
You will have more flexibility with your design and the colors you choose

Most tattoos need as little as three to four laser tattoo removal sessions to fade their tattoo for a cover-up. Bad Habits Tattoos can connect you with one of our talented cover-up tattoo artists for more information.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

During treatment, our Astanza Duality laser sends ultrafast pulses of light energy onto the unwanted tattoo. The ink trapped in your skin absorbs the light energy and shatters into tiny fragments. Your immune system absorbs the fragmented particles and disposes of them naturally. Multiple treatments are needed to achieve complete tattoo removal.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed is unique to each client and their tattoo. Bad Habits Tattoos uses a variety of factors to best estimate the number of treatments you will need. These factors include the size of your tattoo, the age of your tattoo, skin type, tattoo location, tattoo density, ink depth, type of tattoo ink used, patient health, and pre-existing scarring. Most tattoos require a minimum of 5 to 10 treatments for complete removal. Older or faded tattoos may only need 3 to 4 treatments for desired results.

Is laser tattoo removal safe?

Absolutely! Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for getting rid of unwanted ink. Our Astanza Duality laser is FDA-approved and trusted by leading tattoo removal practitioners. Unlike acid injections, creams, salabrasion, dermabrasion, excision, and other methods of tattoo removal, laser tattoo removal is noninvasive, effective, and doesn’t result in scarring..

Is the laser painful?

Laser tattoo removal is often compared to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Bad Habits Tattoos has invested in the noninvasive Zimmer Cryo cooling machine, the industry’s leading skin numbing solution. This device successfully numbs the skins in minutes using freezing cold air. Your skin will be comforted and cooled before, during, and after each treatment – eliminating the need to worry about pain or discomfort.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

Laser tattoo removal at Bad Habits Tattoos is competitive and affordable. We determine the cost per treatment based on the size of the tattoo being treated. We also provide special discounts and prepaid treatment packages to help you bundle and save more.

Are there any side effects?

Laser tattoo removal is an extremely safe procedure. As long as patients follow proper aftercare instructions, they will achieve great results. The only side effects patients may experience are itchiness, redness, swelling, skin discoloration, scabbing, and blistering. All of these side effects are natural reactions to the laser and will heal over the weeks following a treatment.

Can you lighten my tattoo or just get rid of a portion of my tattoo?

Yes! Laser tattoo removal is a helpful tool for cover-up tattoos. By lightening a tattoo, you’re creating a cleaner canvas for your tattoo artist to work on. Selective tattoo removal is also available at Bad Habits Tattoos. We can erase a name from a tattoo while leaving the surrounding ink untouched. Call our Fort Lauderdale studio for more information!

Laser tattoo removal is only effective if proper aftercare is applied following each treatment. Aftercare is a crucial step in the recovery process and helps fight off unwanted infection and other unwanted side effects. Bad Habits Tattoos promises to use the best protocols and treatments for your skin and ask that you take special care of your tattoo outside of our studio.

Every client will get a detailed aftercare sheet to take home after each treatment. Below are a few tips to keep in mind during the healing process:

  • Ensure that the treated area is clean and dry. Gently cleanse the area with a mild soap and water then pat to dry. Avoid rubbing the skin as it may cause irritation.
  • Apply a thin coat of antibiotic ointment three times a day for the first three days following a treatment. Cover with a sterile bandage each time.
  • Scabs are a common side effect. If you experience scabbing, allow the scab to heal naturally. Do not forcefully pick at the scab – this can lead to infection and more serious side effects.
  • Blistering is also a common side effect. Do not forcefully pop any blisters that form. All the blister to heal and pop naturally. Once this happens, apply an antibiotic ointment and cover with a sterile bandage.
  • If you experience any discomfort, apply a cold compress to the treatment site. Patients may take Tylenol for pain relief but should avoid taking aspirin as it can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding.
  • Apply a sunblock of SPF 25 or higher once the treatment site has healed. Avoid excessive sun exposure and other tanning activities, including tanning beds.
  • Contact our studio immediately if you experience any serious complications or side effects.
