Aftercare Tips

Laser tattoo removal is only effective if proper aftercare is applied following each treatment. Aftercare is a crucial step in the recovery process and helps fight off unwanted infection and other unwanted side effects. Bad Habits Tattoos promises to use the best protocols and treatments for your skin and ask that you take special care of your tattoo outside of our studio.

Every client will get a detailed aftercare sheet to take home after each treatment. Below are a few tips to keep in mind during the healing process:

Ensure that the treated area is clean and dry. Gently cleanse the area with a mild soap and water then pat to dry. Avoid rubbing the skin as it may cause irritation.
Apply a thin coat of antibiotic ointment three times a day for the first three days following a treatment. Cover with a sterile bandage each time.
Scabs are a common side effect. If you experience scabbing, allow the scab to heal naturally. Do not forcefully pick at the scab – this can lead to infection and more serious side effects.
Blistering is also a common side effect. Do not forcefully pop any blisters that form. All the blister to heal and pop naturally. Once this happens, apply an antibiotic ointment and cover with a sterile bandage.
If you experience any discomfort, apply a cold compress to the treatment site. Patients may take Tylenol for pain relief but should avoid taking aspirin as it can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding.
Apply a sunblock of SPF 25 or higher once the treatment site has healed. Avoid excessive sun exposure and other tanning activities, including tanning beds.
